Chamber Music Columbus is excited to welcome The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Woodwind Quintet to the Southern Theatre stage on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 7:00pm. Purchase your tickets today! www.chambermusiccolumbus.org The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields was founded by Sir Neville Marriner in 1958 and is currently led by Music Director Joshua Bell. In 1967, the Academy Chamber Ensemble was formed to perform the larger scale chamber music repertoire with players who customarily worked together, instead of the usual string quartet with additional guests. Drawn from the principal players of the orchestra, the Chamber Ensemble’s touring commitments are extensive and include regular tours of Europe and North America, whilst recording contracts with Philips Classics, Hyperion, and Chandos have led to the release of over thirty CDs.The Chamber Ensemble now performs in multiple configurations, including the Academy Wind Ensemble, which makes its US debut with pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips in the 2020-2021 season, performing programs featuring the quintets of Beethoven, Mozart, and Brahms, among other works.youtu.be/L-AV65IZA-Q ... Don’t miss your chance to hear Le Consort’s performance of J.S. Bach, Larghetto, BWV 972 at the Southern Theatre TODAY at 4:00pm. Purchase your tickets today! www.chambermusiccolumbus.org Le Consort invites you to the baroque era, in which the trio Sonata was the most popular chamber music formation. This whirlwind program will spotlight examples by famous composers such as Bach and Telemann, alongside some unjustly neglected Baroque masters, illustrating the immense expressive range and creativity of this repertoire. With a few strokes of the two violins and cello bows and animation of the harpsichord’s keys, let yourself be teleported from the Venice of Albinoni and Gentili to the Naples of Porpora, with a visit to Telemann and Bach in Germany. The program concludes with a magnificent setting of “Follia” - the era’s most recognizable melody, and one which still resonates today. A great journey awaits you! ... See MoreSee Less
